What sets wall thickness on a pipe extrusion line

Wall thickness is not set by one component. It is the result of three systems holding the same pace.

The die head and tooling set the initial dimensions of the melt as it leaves the extruder. The cooling section — vacuum sizing and spray tanks — fixes the shape while the pipe solidifies. The haul-off pulls at a constant speed, so the pipe is neither stretched nor compressed on its way out.

If any one of the three drifts, the effect shows at the wall: thicker here, thinner there, or a section that is no longer round. That is why a line should be judged on how steadily those three hold together over a full shift, not on a short demonstration run.

Useful questions when comparing quotations: what tolerance is guaranteed, over which diameter range, and at what output.

Winone Tech supplies HDPE pipe extrusion lines and PVC pipe extrusion lines, with the matching die heads and downstream equipment. Contact us to discuss the diameter range and output you need.
